Diane Webber in "The Witchmaker"

I finally got ahold of the new DVD of The Witchmaker (1969), and got some great screencaps of Diane Webber as the bellydancing witch The Nautch of Tangier! Behold her in all her seductive glory!

My interview at The Gilded Serpent!

Believe it or not, I'm still alive! And I've been interviewed by the lovely Stasha at The Gilded Serpent. They all did a smashing job!

Check it out now, won't you?

Diane Webber Dancing!

Remember my post about Diane Webber of last December?  I wondered if there was any existing video of her bellydancing. Well guess what - there is!

This is an absolutely wonderful video tribute to Diane. There is footage of her dancing, in a film called The Witchmaker (1969, due for an official DVD release this July!) and live with the Perfumes of Araby troupe, near the end, starting at about 10:27.

Mermaid fans will also enjoy clips of her as a mermaid in The Mermaids of Tiburon (1962) and on an episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1967)!

Wow. This is great stuff. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

The Half-Naked Truth (1932)

DVR alert, gang! Turner Classic Movies will be showing The Half-Naked Truth (1932) on Thursday, March 10 at 10:30 am PST. It's a sweet little confection starring Lupe Velez ("The Mexican Spitfire") as a carnival/Coney Island-style "belly dancer" (in other words, don't expect authenticity). It's a nice little time-passer. Don't miss it!

The Radio Bastet Android app has arrived!

Radio Bastet continues her wobbly journey into the 21st century with the brand-spankin'-new Android app! The developer, Wizzard Media, is still working on the iPhone app, so stay tuned for that. Now you can tote the podcast around with you all fancy-schmancy-like. (Don't look at me, I only have one of those Tracfone things for emergencies...) The price is a whopping $1.99; if the app proves to be a hit, I will most definitely lower the price or even make it free. Heck, why not. Enjoy, won't we?
